F.A.Q.’s for Leadership University Frequently Asked Questions Q: Why an online Leadership University for new churches? A: Many times the key people interested in starting a new church are unable to attend a training event in their area or fit the time for a training event into their busy calendars. These lessons help introduce the steps for starting a new church and begin the training process for new church leaders. You can take a lesson at a time or take several lessons at once – go at your pace, on your schedule anytime day or night. Q: Why are there six different sections in Leadership University? A: These six sections reflect the six different teams involved with new church evangelism: (1) An introductory “Fast Track” for anyone wanting to know more about new churches; (2) Prayer Partners – Every new church can enlist prayer partners to go through these lessons; (3) Launch Teams – The startup group of volunteers for every new church can learn the keys for starting a strong new church; (4) Sponsor Pastors – These pastors help mother new churches with prayer, leaders, finances and encouragement. (5) New Church Pastors – These leaders are key to the health and growth of a new church and their ongoing training is essential (6) Compassionate Ministry Leaders – Many sense God’s call to start new ministries for the marginalized in our society, and start new churches from these works. Q: Do these courses appear in my college transcript? A: No, these are voluntary lessons you take at your pace with no connections to your educational degrees or credits. Q: Will I be graded for my answers in these courses? A: There will be review sections for each lesson, but you are not actually graded on them. They are designed to help you process the information you receive in each lesson and reflect on the materials. Q: What are the costs for these courses? A: All of these lessons in the Leadership University are provided at no cost to you as a way to encourage interest in starting new churches. Q: Are there other steps I should take for a new church? A: Yes, start by contacting your pastor and district superintendent for approval and support for any new church being started. Then, enroll in the various training opportunities provided by the Church of the Nazarene, including regional NewStart Assessment Centers.
